Mark The Piano Guy
The Yorkshire Wedding Pianist
That was my job this weekend – over the hills towards Barnsley to be a Yorkshire wedding pianist……….The Piano Guy does Penistone!
I set off in plenty of time as always but it was quite icy and didn’t want to take any chances. Following “Waze” blindly I ended up over Woodhead pass. Whilst I usually do not take this route it was lovely to see the clouds below me settling over Yorkshire as I made my descent from the peak district.
The White Heart in Penistone (I am assured is pronounced “Pen – iss – ton) was already for the wedding of Paul and Hannah. The room looked stunning but, what can not be seen from a picture, it smelled amazing due to the scented candles.
A Special Song for the Bride
The Bride chose a special song to walk down the aisle. It had been a favourite of her grandmother so it meant a lot to her. Plus we had a little memory of her in the room with us.
As I started the processional song Make you feel my love by Adele the doors opened and the procession was started by the couple’s niece. We managed to snap a picture of her on the piano later.
The Bride and Groom were married becoming the new Mr & Mrs Armitage before leaving the room to my rendition of Heaven by Bryan Adams.
The drink reception was in the bar and I entertained the guests of the wedding but still received kind words from the bar guests.
The last set for me was the wedding breakfast. The room looked stunning with the LOVE letters in the corner. I played set with the audience calling out requests such as Candle in the Wind or Brown Eyed Girl.
So concludes my day as Yorkshire wedding pianist
…….so from the other side of the Peak district…….
I would like to thanks all the staff at The White Heart for looking after me, keeping me in coffee and heart-shaped short bread.
I hope I get to play there again soon!
Most importantly thanks to Mr & Mrs Armitage for putting their trust in me to provide the soundtrack to their special day. It was quite an honour
Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!
